Human exposure to chemical substances, environmental pollutants, which interfere in hormonal function, is an actual and worrying fact. There is scientifical proof that some chemical compounds outside the organism, natural o synthetic, behave as if they were, interfering in hormona production, liberation, biological activity and removal through different action mechanisms. Humans are exposed to a complex mixture of such substances. The Environmental Medicine-Food Disruptors research group of the University of Granada, directed by Professor Nicolás Olea (...)
The group Electromagnetism of the University of Granada (UGR), supervised by Prof. Rafael Gómez Martín, is working in the design of microwave systems to detect hidden objects. Specifically, materials with earth penetration radars and breast tumors. The projects of these researchers have not only focused on the design of this technology, but also on its specific application. Thus, they have favoured the removal of some marble blocks to the Faculty of Sciences to analyse them (...)

Essential analytical processes to know, and treat waters, solid waste and air pollution and such are showed in the book “Analytical Techniques in Environmental Engineering Control”; Professors Miguel Ángel Gómez Nieto and Ernesto Hontoria García, from the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Granada, are responsible for the edition. The volume, about 300 pages long, is an essential guide --not only for professionals and specialists, but also for students and anyone interested in such (...)
This study allows to know the influence of the spectrum of solar radiation on water communities from four Andalusian ecosystems: pools of Padul, Antequera, Cordova and Sierra Nevada. The research work involves an experimental analysis “in situ” by using certain areas of these water systems where the quality of solar radiation will be manipulated and changes in living creatures will be analyzed. The research work is carried out in collaboration with the team Photobiology and Biotechnology (...)
